(7) Florida Gators vs. (3) Marquette Golden Eagles
The seventh-seeded Florida Gators are a surprise in the Sweet Sixteen. Due to Norfolk State’s shocking upset of Missouri, Florida didn’t have to play the Tigers in the Round of 32, and instead clobbered Norfolk State, 84-50. In the regular season, Florida attempted the second most threes out of any Division One school. Freshman guard Bradley Beal leads the Gators into this game, and he will have his hands full.
Marquette is playing with energy. Big East player of the year Jae Crowder is averaging 21.0 points per game in the Tournament so far, and senior guard Darius Johnson-Odom can easily catch fire. Marquette is coming off of a win against a great Murray State team, and the sky is the limit for the Golden Eagles.
In this game, the energy and production that Jae Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom bring to the floor will eventually be too much for the Gators. Florida will be hard-pressed to respond to such energetic and electrifying play, and Marquette will march on into the Elite Eight.
Marquette 75, Florida 63
